The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a competitive development opportunity to empower our leaders and provide a unique chance to develop analytical and critical
leadership skills in the non-profit sector.
Every year, we identify professional individuals who clearly demonstrate leadership potential in the non-profit sector.
Partnership With Georgetown Business For Impact
The National Urban League Emerging Leaders Program, now in its 15th year seeks to develop exceptional leaders with a strong interest and passion for the work that we do at the Urban League.
The National Urban League continues our partnership with Georgetown University's Business for Impact. They will lead a series of sessions that will help our Emerging Leaders be a confident and effective leader in their community, organization, and personal life.
Participants in the program will attend (4) Emerging Leaders Georgetown University sessions over a multi-month period. These sessions will expose participants to the competencies in the League's Leadership Model, provide direct access to thought leaders in profit and non-profit sector and link classroom learning with real-time activities. In addition to these sessions, the Emerging Leaders Program offers sessions on topics such as fundraising, fiscal management, and provides an opportunity to network with past ELP graduates and more.
As part of their program, the cohort will design and present a final project where they will apply what they have learned and use their own personal work experience towards a real-life Urban League Affiliate challenge. Their presentations (or consultations) will provide an Affiliate with suggested next steps and ideas to support their organization and community.
They will also have the chance to meet with Marc Morial, The National Urban League President and author of Gumbo Coalition: 10 Leadership Lessons That Help You Inspire, Unite, and Achieve.
