Karen E. Burks is a native of St. Francisville, Louisiana. Karen is a servant leader, social entrepreneur, and board volunteer. Karen serves as the Founder of Burks Management Firm a boutique business-consulting firm where she assists clients with financial education training and business consulting. Karen has been providing career planning and professional development training to individuals in her role as the Career and Workforce Development Trainer with the Urban League of Louisiana. She has over ten years of expertise in the financial institution industry and four years in higher education instruction. Karen serves as the Economic Empowerment Director at her church United Christian Faith Ministries. Karen is a sought after etiquette instructor providing high-level instruction to young professionals and teens.

Karen academic advancement includes an Associate of Applied Science in Business Technology from Baton Rouge Community College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in Management from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana; a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, and she is a certified Personal Finance professional with Teachers College Columbia University Cowin Financial Literacy Institute in New York, NY. She is currently an AFCPE member and a candidate to obtain her AFC® credentials in Fall 2022.

Karen has a strong background in leadership and community service, while maintaining membership in several social, civic, and religious organizations. Her volunteer and leadership participation includes: Vice Chair of Greater New Orleans Junior Achievement Young Professionals Board 2018- 2020, Vice Chair of SCORE New Orleans 2019-2020, Treasurer of Urban League of Louisiana Young Professionals 2020-2021, Delta Leadership Institute Fellow 2020, She Leads Power Coalition Fellow 2019, and Southeastern Louisiana University Gold Council Alumni Board member 2021-2023. Karen was the 2019 recipient of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. (COGIC)

40 under 40 awards. Karen was also awarded the 2020 Louisiana Volunteer Service Award presented by the administration of the Lt. Governor of Louisiana Billy Nungesser.
