The Urban Civil Rights Museum in Harlem seeks a visionary and experienced Director, Learning and Engagement to oversee the museum’s education programs. The Director of Learning and Engagement supervises all educational activities of the museum, including tours, and ensures high caliber and consistent education content for youth, families and adults. They will work with the education team to create customized tours, family days, and K-12 school programs. The Director’s responsibility is to serve diverse communities and learners of all ages, and to build a network of artists, creatives, and educators. The Urban Civil Rights Museum in Harlem seeks an enthusiastic, driven, innovative, and experienced Manager, Public Programs to deliver high quality intergenerational outreach and public programming in-person to local audiences and virtually. Working with the Executive Director and Chief Curator and the Director of Learning and Engagement, the Manager of Public Programs will take a lead role in building community outreach and public engagement in order to design and produce high quality monthly and annual signature community programs, public programming around exhibitions and other intergenerational programming. Annual signature community programs include special programs for MLK Day, Women’s History Month, Black History Month, Earth Day, Pride Month, Juneteenth, and Kwanza celebrations. The Urban Civil Rights Museum in Harlem seeks an enthusiastic, experienced, and organized Manager, Visitor Services to oversee the museum’s visitor experience program. The Visitor Services Manager is responsible for visitor engagement at the front desk and reception areas, supervising admissions and ticketing, and building relationships with museum visitors from a range of backgrounds.  They will work closely with local organizations and tour operators to book regular group and individual tours. If so, the National Urban League Summer Internship Program could be the perfect opportunity for you!

The National Urban League Summer Internship Program offers undergraduate students meaningful exposure to the field of non-profit management and the opportunity to engage with a leading civil rights organization. Interns will be based at the National Urban League’s headquarters in New York City or Washington, D.C.

This program is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the non-profit sector or in gaining a deeper understanding of the dynamic relationship between non-profits, corporations, and governments and how these entities work together to advance social change.

The internship operates in a hybrid format, with interns working three days in the office and two days remotely each week. This opportunity is open exclusively to undergraduate students

Program Details:

  • Paid Internship
  • Duration: 9 weeks (June 9 – August 6)
  • Location: Hybrid (New York City or Washington, D.C.)
  • Paid travel  & hotel to National Urban League’s conference is Nashville TN
