NEW YORK (Aug. 14, 2023) - The National Urban League, a historic civil rights and urban advocacy organization, and Takeda together announce a new health equity initiative that seeks to address the obstacles that disproportionately hinder access to better health care for historically marginalized populations in the U.S.
LOUISVILLE (Aug. 14, 2023) – In celebration of Black Business Month, the Louisville Urban League (Louisville, KY) held a Black Business Expo at the Norton Sports and Learning Center.
The event took place this past Sunday, August 13th, and boasted over 70 vendors.
The Urban League’s Cynthia Brown said, “A lot of these partners came together at that time to really discuss what was happening in the city surrounding black businesses. Then what kind of support we’re missing from those black businesses to figure out what we can do for those gaps.”

The 1921 Tulsa Massacre stands as one of the worst acts of racial terrorism in the United States since the abolition of slavery.
But it had nearly faded from history until 2003, when the late Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., filed suit on behalf of the victims and their survivors.
WICHITA (Aug. 7, 2023) – The Urban League of Kansas (Wichita, KS) will host a neighborhood night out on Tuesday, August 8th.
From 4 PM to 8 PM, the Urban League will provide the community with entertainment, music, food and a special area for kids.
Along with the entertainment, the event will include workshops and 23 resource booths. The Wichita Public Library will also be in attendance, giving out free books and school information for the upcoming school year.
There will also be assistance for parents to apply for the Kansas Education Enrichment Program, which provides $1,000 per student for their school related expenses.
SEATTLE (Aug. 7, 2023) - The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle (Seattle, WA) will host its “22nd Annual Breakfast: Era of Essential Service” at the Westin hotel in Seattle on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
The Annual Breakfast is a celebration of the organization's essential programming and services it provides to the community in the focus areas of health, housing, entrepreneurship, advocacy, education, and workforce development. The 2023 event will also include a special emphasis on honoring Black women in the community who have fearlessly dedicated their lives to uplift and empower others.
CHARLOTTE (Aug. 7, 2023) – The Urban League of Central Carolinas recently celebrated their 45th anniversary with its annual gala.
The gala, held this past Friday, Aug. 4th, was held at the Charlotte Marriott City Center, and it celebrated and honored those who have given back to their community.
This year, the Urban League honored Bank of America chief administrative officer, D. Steve Boland, and Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio with their most prestigious award, the Whitney M. Young Jr. award.
