National Urban League Honors Former CBC Chair Joyce Beatty with Champion Award During Legislative Policy Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 8, 2023) – The National Urban League today presented former Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty with the CBC Champion Award the final day of the League’s Legislative Policy Conference.

Urban League of Greater Richmond Donates 1800 Books to Public Schools

RICHMOND (March 6, 2023) – In commemoration of Read Across America Day on Thursday, March 2nd, the Urban League of Greater Richmond (Richmond, VA) donated 1800 books to kindergarteners in area schools.

Interim president of the Urban League, Larry Murphy, visited the Chimborazo Elementary School to deliver some of the books, along with local leaders.

He said, “We hope the kids get some basic understanding around being kind, around fairness, around how you treat others, about teamwork. And then about self image. Each and every child is a king or a queen and so, we want to stress that. Especially when they're starting to learn about education."

Lorain Urban League Gets Huge Book Donation

ELYRIA (March 6, 2023) – The Lorain County Urban League (Elyria, OH) just received a huge donation for its literacy program.

This past Friday, March 3rd, the Urban League received over 600 children’s books donated by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems for its Read and Rise Family Literacy Program.

New York Urban League Honors TFF President with Inaguaral Award

New York (March 6, 2023) – In an event that included some of the fragrance industry’s heavyweights, the New York Urban League (New York, NY) honored the President of The Fragrance Foundation (TFF) with its first ever Catalyst Award.

Linda G. Levy received the award at the Urban League’s 2023 Champions of Diversity Symposium and Awards event, held this year on Wednesday, Feb. 15th.

The Urban League awarded Levy due to her leadership in forwarding diversity initiatives in the fragrance industry. She is the figure behind the hashtag, #FragranceForwardTFF, a move to provide opportunities for people of all backgrounds into the industry, reflecting the diverse population of the country.
