Urban League of Middle Tennessee’s Celebrates 55 Years
NASHVILLE (Jan. 23, 2023) – The Urban League of Middle Tennessee (Nashville, TN) is celebrating 55 years of service.
On Tuesday, February 7, the Urban League will be hosting their 55th Annual Equal Opportunity Luncheon at the Music City Center.
This year’s theme is “Closing the Disparities,” which will have the Urban League focus on ways to close the inequity gap that communities of color face. This year there will be a panel discussion on how underserved communities can achieve social, economic, and civil equity.
Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Feeds Families on MLK Day
ST. LOUIS (Jan. 23, 2023) – To honor the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis (St. Louis, MO) partnered with the St. Louis Area Foodbank to give out food to needy families.
President and CEO of the Urban League, Michael McMillan, said, “This, so we can live the type of dream that Dr. King would have wanted us with helping our neighbors in need.”
Over 2,000 families received eggs, canned goods, meat, dairy, toiletries, and various other items at the event.
Urban League of Chattanooga Hosts MLK Youth Symposium
CHATTANOOGA (Jan. 23, 2023) – In honor of Martin Luther King Day, the Urban League of Chattanooga (Chattanooga, TN) hosted their Youth Symposium at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center.
The event, in its third year, seeks to highlight youth leaders as part of the Urban League’s National Achievers Society.
There were students from nine different area schools, also helped plan and host the event.
The students participated in a debate covering economic, racial, and environmental justice issues after hearing of all of Dr. King’s accomplishments.
