KNOXVILLE (Oct. 30, 2023) - The Knoxville Area Urban League (Knoxville, TN) hosted its annual Equal Opportunity Awards Gala recently.

The annual gala, which took place at the Knoxville Convention Center on Thursday, October 26th, celebrates community leaders who have contributed to ensuring equitable opportunities in the Knoxville community.

The awards recognized notable figures in minority businesses and corporate leadership, and the Urban League also presented the Whitney M. Young Jr. Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Attendees enjoyed a meal and entertainment from Morris Day and The Time, with additional musical performances. The event's proceeds were directed towards empowering students, entrepreneurs, and people of color in the Knoxville community.

Charles F. Lomax Jr., the President of the Urban League, said, “We call this event a party with a purpose, and so we are here to have a good time but also to recognize a good cause as well.”
