Lorain County Urban League Holds Family Fun Fair
ELYRIA (Oct. 24, 2022) – The Lorain County Urban League (Elyria, OH) held its first ever Fall Family Fun Fair on Saturday, Oct. 22nd.
The fair had a bit of a twist – the Urban League featured the Matrix Mobile Health Clinic to provide free COVID-19 boosters, as well as other health screenings.
The Urban League’s Education and Youth Development Coordinator Achilles Morales said, “As it’s getting closer to wintertime and with flu season and projected COVID cases on the horizon, we wanted to partner with the state health department to offer free health screenings and boosters for the community.”
This event was a step in the nationwide All In campaign, which seeks to bring more vaccinations and vaccine awareness to minority communities.
Urban League of Northwest Indiana Hosts Annual Scholarship Fair
GARY (Oct. 24, 2022) – On Tuesday, Oct. 18th, the Urban League of Northwest Indiana (Gary, IN) held its annual scholarship fair at Indiana University Northwest. Students from all over came to the event to show them that a college education is more than possible.
One of the ways that this event stands out from other college fairs is the many workshops that were available for students. Workshops on financial aid and scholarships helped them visualize a future that included a college education. For many students, this was the very first step in their college search.
But learning about scholarships wasn’t the only thing that happened at the event – many students left the event with awarded scholarships in their hands.
