Urban League of Northwest Indiana Hosts Annual Scholarship Fair

GARY (Oct. 24, 2022) – On Tuesday, Oct. 18th, the Urban League of Northwest Indiana (Gary, IN) held its annual scholarship fair at Indiana University Northwest. Students from all over came to the event to show them that a college education is more than possible.

One of the ways that this event stands out from other college fairs is the many workshops that were available for students. Workshops on financial aid and scholarships helped them visualize a future that included a college education. For many students, this was the very first step in their college search.

But learning about scholarships wasn’t the only thing that happened at the event – many students left the event with awarded scholarships in their hands.

Jack Solomon, Chicagoland Partner representative for the infinite Scholars Program, said, “Just seeing these kids walk around and leave with scholarships is beautiful. We had a girl last year who was crying – no one in her family had been able to go to college, and she received four scholarships. This truly changes lives.”
