MADISON (Oct. 24, 2022) – The Urban League of Greater Madison (Madison, WI) has received a whopping $500,000 for their Black Business Hub.

On October 4th, the Farwell Foundation announced the $500,000 donation to support the Urban League’s Black Business Hub project. In their announcement, Cheryl Rosen Weston, who fueled the donation, said, “we firmly believe in our duty to make this world, and more specifically, Madison, a better place. We do this by committing to support, love, honor, and respect all members of our community.”

She continued, “We are delighted to partner with the Urban League of Greater Madison in the development of the Black Business Hub, and we believe in its enormous potential to effect positive change for Madison’s Black community.”

The Black Business Hub is a project that looks to support underserved businesses and individuals via incubation, acceleration, and networking services and programs. It will also provide coaching and mentoring services for entrepreneurs, as well as loans, grants, and educational support.

For Dr. Ruben Anthony, President of the Urban League, he was astounded at the gift.

This is a tremendous investment in the Black Business Hub’s vision, and even more importantly in the hard-working small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs who have experienced a lifetime of under-investment, challenges accessing capital, and the lack of a culturally relevant ecosystem of support.”
