The Right Has a New Vision for America

A vision of an America where your job is allowed to work you overtime without pay and workplace discrimination can go on without punishment.

A vision of an America where Headstart programs are no longer an option for your child and our public schools are stripped of federal funding.

And a vision of an America where Medicare is an option of the past and prescription drug prices continue to skyrocket with little to no help from the federal government.

This is not a drill; it's a 900-page manifesto written by the Heritage Foundation, a well-resourced political think tank in Washington, DC, behind many conservative and right-wing policies. The Heritage Foundation operates under the guise of promoting "family values," "American patriotism," and limited government, but its true goal is to create a far-reaching government that limits your rights while giving corporate interests free rein over our economy and our future.

We can stop this movement today.

The Dismantling Our of Community

Project 2025's goal is to transform the United States from a democratic country to an authoritarian system, a government that rules with one strong power and greatly limits political freedom and opposition.

Essentially, forcing the country to conform to a Christian Nationalist and modern-day White Supremacist society, removing rights for any opposing group of people.

The Battle Happening Now Over the 2025 Federal Budget

The doctrine set out in Project 2025 to take America back to the 1960s is already shaping a battle in Congress. The 2025 budget proposed by Republicans in Congress aims to slash spending on fair housing, regulatory protections like the ones that keep our food and water safe, and education budgets.

What We Can Do

This is not over.

We are still the people of the United States, and we have a say in how our country operates. The creators of Project 2025 and its advocates are the minority compared to the millions of people whose lives this proposal would uproot. However, this makes this election year so important.

We all must vote for the future of America we want to see. If we want this country to remain a democracy, we must vote and show up in November. Here are ways you can stand up to stop Project 2025.

Election Engagement

The Presidential Election season is well underway. Everyone must take time to understand the election. We must listen to debates, monitor polls, and engage in election information sessions to learn more. We must also vote. It is important now more than ever that we vote for all levels of government and ensure we are registered to vote and that our friends and family are registered to vote.

Share Information

One of the biggest tools we can use in preparation for Project 2025 is raising public awareness about the project's impacts through media, public forums, and several education initiatives. Raising voter awareness about threats to democracy increases the chances that people will vote against these changes.

Ask Congress to ActUrge your members of Congress to take immediate action to Stop Project 2025!

Your elected officials in Congress hold tremendous power to get the word out about Project 2025 to their constituents by hosting public forums, convening congressional hearings, and more! Let Congress know that we strongly oppose this agenda and need them to take immediate action to stop this threat to our democracy, freedoms, and civil rights!

Know Who You're Voting For

Ahead of 2024, the National Urban League has developed a comparative analysis of the civil rights records and commitments of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris versus former President Donald Trump and Vice-Presidential nominee J.D. Vance. The National Urban League has a longstanding history of evaluating presidential candidates and administrations, most recently highlighted in our ‘Evaluation for Progress Report on the Biden-Harris Administration’, released as part of our 2024 State of Black America report.

Serving as a complement to that comprehensive report, this guide presents an analysis conducted by the National Urban League’s Washington Bureau. Our evaluation considered the candidates' policy records, public statements, and policy platforms. This document aims to:

  1. Provide an overview of the two presidential tickets, including background information on the candidates
  2. Highlight the impact of former policy positions and actions on the communities served by the Urban League movement
  3. Assess policy platforms for each of the candidates with a focus on how those policies advance civil rights
  4. Inform and equip stakeholders with critical insights to support the ongoing fight for racial equity and social justice.
