The Impact

Project 2025 plans to consolidate executive power by weakening regulation and dismantling federal agencies that protect the interest of everyday Americans. The impact on our community will be devastating.

Years of work to make the education system equitable, hold polluters accountable, and expand public health are at risk of complete erasure. In addition, thousands of government jobs are at risk of being lost, many in our community.

Below are ways Project 2025 will impact the federal government.

Department of Education

Project 2025 aims to dismantle the Department of Education via executive order, transferring control of education policies to individual states. This could lead to significant variations in education quality and access across the country, potentially eliminating federal oversight on issues like civil rights in education and standardized testing.

Example: Federal funding for programs like Title IX, which protects against gender discrimination in schools, could be eliminated, affecting support for female and LGBTQ+ students.

Department of Labor

The project proposes reshaping labor policies to reduce regulations on businesses and weaken worker protections. This could involve

repealing federal labor standards, such as minimum wage laws and workplace safety regulations, resulting in poorer working conditions and lower wages for many workers.

Example: The reduction of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, potentially leading to increased workplace injuries and fatalities.

Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

Project 2025 plans to bring these agencies under direct presidential control, politicizing their operations and undermining their independence. This could lead to the DOJ and FBI being used to target political opponents and shield allies from legal scrutiny.

Example: The potential dismissal of investigations into corruption or abuse of power by administration officials, compromising the rule of law.

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

The project aims to eliminate programs supporting reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ equality, and to defund organizations like Planned Parenthood through Medicaid restructuring. This could severely limit access to reproductive healthcare and services for marginalized communities.

Example: The project plans to remove federal funding for STD testing services and increase public health risk, especially for lower-income individuals. It will also place stricter laws on IVF availability and work to federally ban abortion pills.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Project 2025 seeks to deregulate environmental protections, reducing the EPA's ability to enforce laws aimed at combating climate change and pollution. This could lead to increased environmental degradation and public health risks due to unchecked industrial emissions and weakened environmental standards.

Example: The Project will affect several climate change initiatives such as the Clean Air Act regulation resulting in higher levels of air pollution and associated health problems.
