National Urban League Congratulates Hakeem Jeffries on Being Elected New Democratic Leader

Washington, D.C. (November 30, 2022) — Today, Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, released the following statement congratulating Congressman Hakeem Jeffries for being elected to serve as Minority Leader for the House Democratic Caucus. He is the first Black lawmaker in history to lead a major political party in Congress:

Popeyes Partners with NUL to Onboard Diverse Franchisees

Popeyes on Tuesday announced a new partnership with the National Urban League, a non-profit organization dedicated to economic empowerment, equality, and social justice for African Americans and others in underserved communities. Popeyes is teaming up with the National Urban League to further continue its commitment to bettering diversity across its franchising ecosystem. The partnership will allow Popeyes to leverage the National Urban League’s vast network of affiliate partners that serve 300 communities to identify and onboard new, diverse franchisees and operators to join the Popeyes family.

Birmingham Urban League Offers Utility and Rent Assistance to Community

BIRMINGHAM (Nov. 28, 2022) – As the weather gets colder and the costs of living get higher, many struggle to keep their lights on and their rent paid.

William Barnes, President and CEO of the Birmingham Urban League (Birmingham, AL) assures that there are resources that can help those in need.

These resources include the emergency rental assistance program, which is a program that was born during the pandemic. The program can help those in need with essentials like rent and their utility bills.
