Morial on Tuesday will testify before the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion on positive movements made to diversify the financial services sector, reduce economic inequalities, and improve economic equity for Americans.

Lorain County Urban League Guild’s Afternoon of Music

LORAIN COUNTY (Dec. 5, 2022) – The Lorain County Urban League (Elyria, OH) Guild provided the community with an afternoon of jazz music on Sunday, Dec. 4th.

Held at the Urban League offices on 200 Middle Avenue, the event is in its second year.

Urban League Guild President Angela Lee said, “The Urban League does so many things for our community so as the guild we are here to support them financially and as community volunteers. We’re here to better our community because we are the movement.”

The event also included a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle…and football.

At the event, there was a separate room for those who wanted to view the Cleveland Browns game.

Louisville Urban League Annual Luncheon Sets Big Goals

LOUISVILLE (Dec. 5, 2022) – The Louisville Urban League (Louisville, KY) has set its sights on big goals within the next five years.

At the Urban League’s annual luncheon held on Friday, Dec. 1st,, the new President and CEO, Dr. Kish Cumi Price, stated that she wants to the organization to raise $1.1 billion dollars to support Black businesses, education, and housing.

The luncheon also highlighted the successes that the Urban League has had in 2022, helping 326 people receive expungement, and placing 304 people find employment.

Akron Urban League MCCAP Program a Gift to Minority Contractors

AKRON (Dec. 5, 2022) – For many business owners, starting your own business is a frightening endeavor. Constant rejections due to lack of experience or denial of financial capital makes getting a business off the ground incredibly difficult.

This is especially true for minority contractors – and the Akron Urban League (Akron, OH) wants to help with that.

The Urban League has built the Minority Contractor Capital Access Program (MCCAP), a program that gives small, minority contractors the tools to truly grow and develop their business.

Gail Wilson, MCCAP’s director for the Urban League, said, “Our goal is for them to be successful and grow their business – we provide them with the tools to do that.”

Urban League of Greater Chattanooga Celebrates 40th Anniversary

CHATTANOOGA (Dec. 5, 2022) – The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga (Chattanooga, TN) is celebrating.

The Urban League is preparing for their upcoming Equal Opportunity Day Breakfast, which will take place this coming Thursday, Dec. 8th at 8 AM. It’s a milestone celebration, as it’s in 40th year.

President of the Urban League Candy Johnson said, “This year is extra special because it’s our 40th anniversary – 40 years for EOD and 40 years as an organization in the Chattanooga area.”

The theme this year is “Moments in the Movement”, where the organization will reflect on its past, present, and future.

Wells Fargo Partners With National Urban League on Appraiser Diversification Initiative

The National Urban League and Wells Fargo have announced a $5 million grant to create the Diverse Appraiser Initiative, a new program that aims to increase diversity and reduce barriers to entry in the home appraisal industry. This effort will begin in early 2023.
