Civil Rights Groups Call on Senate to Take Immediate Action on Voting Rights
WASHINGTON — Leading civil rights organizations released the following joint statement urging senators to be on the right side of history and pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act:

The year was 1964, and Mississippi was a cauldron of white supremacist terrorism. A year earlier, civil rights activist Medgar Evers had been shot and killed outside his own home by White Citizens Council member Byron De La Beckwith. The FBI had just discovered the battered bodies of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, six weeks after they disappeared. The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee desperately needed funds to continue the 1964 Mississippi Summer Project, better known as Freedom Summer.

Urban League of Greater Southwest Ohio Becomes a Testing Site
During a surge of COVID-19 cases, the city of Cincinnati will open testing sites to six new locations, the Urban League of Greater Southwest Ohio being amongst them.
Cincinnati has reported an incredible 999 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Earlier in the week, city health officials have said that cases were doubling every three days.
Steelers Give Back to Pittsburgh Urban League

The Urban League of Pittsburgh will receive $6,000 after donations from Pittsburgh offensive linesman Trai Turner and Kevin Dotson, and a matching contribution from the team, the Steelers announced.
The donation was part of the team’s Social Justice Fund 2021, which was created to support community efforts, with players making donations and the team matching them.
