National Urban League President Denounces Partisan Panel's CFPB Ruling; Calls for Immediate Reversal

NEW YORK (October 20, 2022) -- National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial blasted today’s ruling by Trump-appointed judges that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is unconstitutional, calling the decision “specious and nakedly political.”

National Urban League Partners with FreeWill for New Online Tool

NEW YORK (Oct. 17, 2022) We recently launched a partnership with FreeWill. TVA Awards Tennessee Urban League Affiliates $3 Million to Support Statewide BIPOC Entrepreneurship Development Programs

Memphis (Oct. 17, 2022) – The Memphis affiliate of the Tennessee Urban League Affiliates (TULA) announced October 13, 20222, that the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has awarded a $3 million grant to support and grow statewide business development programs for BIPOC (Black and Indigenous People of Color) business development initiatives - to enhance business sustainability and growth over the next three years.  The money will fund TULA’s workforce readiness training centers, information technology, entrepreneurship, and executive leadership programs across the state.

Birmingham Urban League Kicks Off 100 Days of Nonviolence

Birmingham (Oct. 17, 2022) – On Wednesday, Oct. 12th, the Birmingham Urban League (Birmingham, AL) kicked off the 100 Days of Non-Violence campaign at a local high school.

The initiative is meant to address violence among teens and young adults. This year, organizers have introduced gang violence into the conversation. Many of the instances of violence in schools are because of gangs, teens say.

According to police, murder rates have increased by 36% compared to this time last year.

Louisville Urban League Chooses New CEO

Louisville (Oct. 17, 2022) – The Louisville Urban League (Louisville, KY) has chosen it’s new leader.

Dr. Kish Cumi Price has been chosen to lead the Urban League, the organization announced via press conference on Friday, Oct. 14th. Her first day at the helm will be Nov, 1st.

Dr. Price will replace the Urban League’s beloved Sadiqa Reynolds, who announced her departure in July.

According to Lori Lee, board chair for the Urban League, who said, “There is no replacing the unique and phenomenal leadership of Sadiqa Reynolds. But there is no question that Kish will forge her own exceptional path and continue to carry this organization to new heights.”
