Broome County Urban League Receives $750K for Childcare Program

BINGHAMTON (March 20, 2023) – Parents of Binghamton, rejoice.

This past Friday, March 17th, the Broome County Urban League (Binghamton, NY) announced $750,000 in federal funding to assist in their Broome County Childcare Expansion program. The funds will enable the Urban League to open up hundreds of childcare spots, which will be affordable to parents.

The funds will also be used to renovate the Urban League’s facilities and reinforcing their childcare programming.

Urban League of Hampton Roads Partners with Pearl to Launch Tutoring Programs

RICHMOND (March , 13, 2023) - Pearl, the leading tutor intelligence and efficacy platform, today announced it has joined the innovative community-based tutoring program endorsed by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin in partnership with the Urban Leagues of Hampton Roads and Greater Richmond and four historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). In an effort to address critical learning gaps, the program will employ hundreds of HBCU students as tutors and mentors to middle and high school students throughout their communities.

February Jobs Report Indicates "Steady Resilience" as Economy Continues to Recover

Employment grew by 311,000 jobs in February, while labor force participation grew and long-term unemployment fell, indicating a steady resilience as the economy continues to recover from COVID 19 and the Federal Reserve continues its quest to reduce inflation and restore stable, balanced growth.
