Jamal Burns
Weil Legal Innovator, NUL Equitable Justice and Strategic Initiatives (EJSI) Division
Jamal Burns, originally from Saint Louis, Missouri, is the Weil Legal Innovator in NUL's Equitable Justice and Strategic Initiatives (EJSI) Division. In this role, Jamal conducts legal research and policy analysis on the division's diverse portfolio of justice-related issues. Prior to joining the Urban League, Jamal studied History and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University. After completing his undergraduate studies, he attended the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, where he read for two master's degrees in Educational Technology and Higher Education. At the conclusion of his fellowship, Jamal will pursue his J.D. at Yale Law School. His ultimate career goals are to translate his skills and experiences in research into a lifetime of social advocacy.
