Renita Marcellin
Advocacy and Legislative Director Americans for Financial Reform
Renita Marcellin is the Advocacy and Legislative Director at Americans for Financial Reform and formerly served as their senior policy analyst on banking issues. Her advocacy work has led to her testifying multiple times before the House Financial Services Committee and the New York State Senateon how to create a more equitable banking system. She has also spoken at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)'s symposium on bank mergers, Groundwork Collaborative's 2023 EconCon, and participated in various roundtables on economic issues affecting communities of color. Additionally, she has been cited as a subject-matter expert in numerous publications including the New York Times, USAToday, and Politico. Prior to joining AFR, Renita was a Senior Associate at JPMorgan Chase where she worked to strengthen the bank’s anti-money laundering controls and chaired her team’s Diversity and Inclusion committee to build awareness on the systemic racial inequities affecting the US banking system. Renita received her B.A. in Actuarial Sciences at Baruch College and her Masters in Public Policy at Georgetown University.
