ST. LOUIS (Dec. 19, 2022) – UMB Bank has brought the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis (St. Louis, MO) a step closer to reaching its goal.

The Urban League’s Restoring Hope Capital Campaign received a generous donation of $300,000 from UMB Bank. The initiative is currently turning a site that formerly housed Sears department stores into a one-stop shop for helping and advocating for the community.

The project will also be the Urban League’s regional headquarters, and will include a hydroponic urban farm, the Panera food pantry, the Urban League’s Empowerment Center, medical and dental offices, a daycare center and retail center.

The Urban League hopes to raise $35 million dollars for the program, with an additional $5 million to maintain the facility.

President of the Urban League, Michael McMillan, said of the donation, “We are incredibly grateful to UMB Bank for this historic partnership being launched for the benefit of our Restoring Hope Capital Campaign supporting our new regional headquarters.”

“Their infusion of resources is going to immediately give us the ability to expand the scope, the depth, and the work we are doing here to create the crown jewel of North St. Louis. We are very grateful to the staff, the board, and everyone else who made this possible and we look forward to a long and productive relationship serving the St. Louis community.”
