Urban League of Greater Columbus Gets HUD Funding

COLUMBUS – The Urban League of Greater Columbus (Columbus, GA) received some federal help this past week.
Congressman Sanford Bishop dropped off a check for $500,000 to the Urban League from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development this past Wednesday, April 20th. The Urban League will use the fund to improve their building on First Avenue, he said.
The Congressman said, “As a member of Congress, it gives me a great deal of pride to be able to add an investment to this community through the facilities here at the Urban League to help keep that community develop going forward, which the Urban League has provided over 50 years.”
He applauded the Urban League for their work in the community, commenting that the Urban League has empowered people to have the skills to be part of the community.
