Urban League of Greater Chattanooga is ‘Ready’ for Applicants

CHATTANOOGA (July 10, 2023) – The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga (Chattanooga, TN) is now accepting applications for its Project Ready mentor program.
The program, called Project Ready Mentor: National Achievers Society, is one of the Urban League’s signature programs, as it focuses on various areas of development, in including academic, mentoring, cultural and leadership development. It seeks to prepare high school minority students not only for college, but for life and careers.
The senior director of policy and administration at the League, Sarah Concepcion, said of the program, “The new mentorship component of the program offers students the opportunity to see themselves in careers and spaces they may never have imagined. Mentorship is an essential component of providing appropriate support, services and opportunities to students that will propel them in the process of becoming responsible adults and the next generation of leaders of color.”
To qualify for the program, students must be enrolled in the local public school system and agree to several requirements, such as attending a bi-monthly group meeting and maintain a 2.7 GPA.
The program will run from August 2023 through May 2024, with applications due on August 6th.
