ELIZABETH (Nov. 14, 2022) – The Union County Urban League (Elizabeth, NJ) had their Equal Opportunity Dinner on Thursday (Nov. 10th) and honored the company Exothermic Molding.

The organization is a third-generation family-owned company that provides specialty plastics molding and additive manufacturing for various industries. It’s been in business for fifty years.

The Urban League honored the company with their Employer Partner Award, which is an award given to organizations that assist the League in their mission to provide underserved communities social and economic opportunities.

Crystal Orr, interim president and CEO of the Urban League, said in her remarks, “We want to salute Exothermic for being a supporter of our Reconnections Program and empowering many of reentry clients by providing them job opportunities.”

The Reconnections Program helps formerly incarcerated individuals find work.

President of Exothermic, Paul Steck, in accepting the awards, said, “On behalf of my entire team at Exothermic, we are humbled and honored to receive this award. For over three years, Exothermic Molding has been pleased to participate in workforce reentry programs through the Urban League and extend an opportunity to help formerly incarcerated individuals return to mainstream employment. Today, the Exothermic workforce proudly includes reentry workers as 20% of its staff.”

Jalil Fenney, was an Exothermic hire through the Reconnections, had this to say about this organization. “Reconnections gave me an opportunity to transition back into the workforce. It’s important to make that opportunity count. Exothermic gave me more than just a job. They gave me a career opportunity with skills training and the company sent me to school. I have been able to train others and help those who went through hard times to provide for their families.”
