TALLAHASSEE (Dec. 12, 2022) – The Tallahassee Urban League (Tallahasee, FL) wants to fix Frenchtown.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7th, the Tallahassee City Commission voted to approve a recommendation that would authorize the Urban League to administer $900,000 in funds for a Frenchtown Housing Rehab Program.

The program is part of the Frenchtown Neighborhood First Plan, which is an action plan that tries provide grants and loans for internal and external home repairs. The plan will renovate and repair one area of Frenchtown before moving on towards another, which has a greater impact on the community.

President and CEO of the Urban League, Curtis Taylor, said, “We want to transform Frenchtown.”

The Tallahassee Community Redevelopment Agency had approved the $900k for the Program back in July. The main goal of the program is for those in Frenchtown to be able to access 5-year loans for home repairs. With deferred payments and 0% interest will be awarded to those who qualify.
