TALLAHASSEE (July 17, 2023) – The Tallahassee Urban League (Tallahassee, FL) has once again partnered with Publix Super Markets to help youth.

The program, which helps up to 100 young people find jobs with the supermarket chain, is in its second year.

President and CEO of the Urban League, Curtis Taylor, said, “We are really excited and so thankful for this opportunity again.”

The program will give young people between the ages of 14 to 20 with summer jobs. Some of these summer jobs even have the chance to become permanent.

One of the goals of the program is to reduce violence among young people in the city.

Said Taylor, “We clearly understand that the more jobs we can provide, the less opportunities for our young people to get involved in other things they shouldn’t be involved in.”

The Urban League hopes to expand the job program to other businesses, including Piggly Wiggly.

“We’re not just going to stop at Publix, we’re going to be knocking at everybody’s door,” Taylor said.
