Tallahassee Urban League Hosts Gun Violence Forum
TALLAHASSEE – The Tallahassee Urban League (Tallahassee, FL) hosted a forum focused on gun violence on Thursday, March 31st.
The forum, the third of its kind, had representatives from the City Commission, students from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University, the Tallahassee Branch of the NAACP, and various others.
The main purpose of this forum was to improve the relationships that law enforcement had with the community and the student population, said Urban League President Curtis Taylor.
He was quoted as saying, “TPD along with the Sheriff’s Department agreed to have some dress down days, where they’ll be in polo shirts and meet our citizens and our students. They’ll provide us with their job applications so we can send those out to the community at large, try to get more people interested in trying to be law enforcement.”
The Tallahassee Urban League plans to have four more meetings of this kind.
