NYUL to Host 'She Works Hard for the Money': Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Event

Get ready, women small business owners, to unleash your inner boss and pamper yourself like the queens you are! On Sunday, October 20, 2024, from noon – 5 PM, the New York Urban League (NYUL) Small Business SOLUTIONS Center invites women entrepreneurs to attend the groundbreaking event She Works Hard for the Money—where wellness meets business with a heavy dose of sisterhood! Powered by the NYUL Small Business SOLUTIONS Center, UPS, TD Bank, and the UP Foundation, this day-long experience will inspire, energize, and empower women in business with workshops, wellness treatments, and opportunities to network with fellow trailblazers. She Works Hard… is a space for women to connect, rejuvenate, and share experiences that help them thrive in business and life.
In the spirit of Donna Summer’s iconic anthem, this free event celebrates the relentless drive of women entrepreneurs who work hard daily, juggling business and life demands. Gina B. Ramcharan, business owner and Director of the NYUL Small Business SOLUTIONS Center, explains, "Running a business doesn't erase the responsibilities for women of managing day-to-day life at home, such as childcare or caring for aging parents. Despite the growing number of women-owned businesses each year, women still face challenges like underfunding, gender bias, and impostor syndrome. To honor Women's Business Month, we created a day powered by women for women." Approximately 300 attendees will indulge in self-care mini "Me" services, including manicures, makeovers, and chair massages; choose from fun, hands-on experiences like hula hoop workouts, presented by Hula Hoop Fit 366, or crafting their signature fragrance, facilitated by The Wicked Scent Co., and even a surprise mystery activity for those who love a little adventure!
She Works Hard for the Money is not just about pampering—it also elevates women’s entrepreneurial game. There will be powerful workshops on financial management presented by TD Bank, trailblazing women in historically male-dominated industries sharing their stories and the impact they are making presented by UPS, and Hervival founder Lauren Wells will discuss holistic well-being strategies for women. The discussions will be rounded out with panels featuring successful women entrepreneurs sharing how they balance motherhood, business, and everything in between.
Celebrating women-owned businesses is at the core of She Works Hard for the Money. The New York Urban League Small Business SOLUTIONS Center has partnered with women entrepreneurs to deliver luxury services, hands-on activities, delicious food and beverages, and will take place at a historic Harlem townhouse owned and operated by a black woman entrepreneur. Whether attendees come to learn, pamper themselves, or network with like-minded women, this event will celebrate the hard-working women changing the game.
