National Urban League Re-Elevates 2019 State of Black America Report Detailing 2016 Election Interference

TO COMBAT REVIVED MISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN, NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE RE-ELEVATES 2019 STATE OF BLACK AMERICA REPORT DETAILING RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE IN 2016 ELECTION
NEW YORK (July 23, 2025) — As the Trump administration revives unfounded conspiracy theories and falsehoods about Russian interference in the 2016 election, the National Urban League is reelevating portions of its 2019 State of Black America report which focused on the influence campaign.
"We will not let the facts be lost to history," National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial said. "Through our partnership with The Alliance for Securing Democracy at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, we exposed the massive, state-sponsored Russian operation to interfere in and influence the high stakes 2016 presidential election"
Drawing from federal intelligence reports and research compiled by the Alliance for Securing Democracy at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the report found that a Russian troll factory, the Internet Research Agency deployed thousands of social media accounts which explicitly and implicitly discouraged Black voters from going to the polls as part of its effort to secure a victory for Trump.
The Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation into Russian interference[http://RUSSIAN ACTIVE MEASURES CAMPAIGNS AND INTERFERENCE IN THE 2016 U.S. ELECTION] later confirmed the National Urban League's report.
