NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE CONGRATULATES KARINE JEAN-PIERRE AS SHE TAKES NEW ROLE AS WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY

Washington, D.C. (May 6, 2022) — Today, National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial issued the following statement congratulating Karine Jean-Pierre on becoming the first black and LGBTQ person as White House Press Secretary

“I could not be prouder to witness Karine Jean-Pierre take her new position as White House Press Secretary – the first Black and LGBTQ person to hold this title. She not only brings a unique talent, but a great deal of experience to one of this nation’s most difficult jobs. I have faith that Karine will take on this role with the poise and grace it deserves and will be a strong voice for the American people and the Biden-Harris Administration.

“The National Urban League appreciates President Biden’s leadership in selecting Karine as the new White House Press Secretary and we look forward to her dynamic leadership and continuing our work with the administration.”
