LYNX: TD Bank & Urban League of Broward County Work for Equitable Pandemic Recovery

FORT LAUDERDALE – As the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc over us all, it also exacerbated the many inequities that minorities faced in this country. Minorities, who already saw inequities in the areas such as education, housing, and health, saw those inequalities grow as the pandemic raged on.
The Urban League of Broward County (Fort Lauderdale, FL), with the help of TD Bank, sought to help bridge those gaps.
Together with TD Bank, the Urban League formed LYNX, which is an integrated service model that is designed to promote resiliency over vast areas of life in low- and moderate-income adults and families. Recognizing that the areas of social, health, and education are all connected, the Urban League hopes to those participating in the program will overcome those inequities that the pandemic worsened.
It was with the help of a $770,000 grant from TD Bank that helped the Urban League this initiative. The grant was a part of the TD Ready Challenge, which is the bank’s annual program that supports organizations with creative solutions to various issues. Back in 2020, when LYNX launched, TD Bank was looking to support organizations that were looking to face inequalities worsened by the pandemic.
Since the program launch in 2020, the Urban League has been able to assist over 100 families gain better footing during an incredibly unstable time.
