Louisville Urban League Lauds Year’s Successes

LOUISVILLE (Dec. 5, 2023) - The Louisville Urban League (Louisville, KY), highlighted significant achievements in its latest impact report. Demonstrating its ongoing commitment, the nonprofit unveiled remarkable figures: over 500 graduates from the Kentuckiana Builds program, placement of over 200 seniors into jobs, and the support of 88 new homeowners.
The Urban League's impact extends far beyond numbers, however. Initiatives like improving ACT scores for JCPS students, expunging thousands of records, addressing food injustice with Project Kilimo, and contributing $9 million to the city through the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center reflect the Urban League’s multifaceted efforts in the community.
Lyndon Pryor, the interim President & CEO of the Urban League, emphasized the importance of partnering with capable and strong Black women, recognizing their pivotal role in fostering progress with the organization. Pryor plans to establish endowment funds honoring past leaders and acknowledging their contributions, particularly former president Sadiqa Reynolds.
He also emphasized that while the reported numbers show progress, they only scratch the surface of the potential for positive change.
“The numbers only tell us a fraction of the potential of what we can accomplish,” he said. “We need to keep turning that needle up and keep moving the dial forward so we can get to a great equitable place for everybody, together.”
