Louisville Urban League Annual Luncheon Sets Big Goals

LOUISVILLE (Dec. 5, 2022) – The Louisville Urban League (Louisville, KY) has set its sights on big goals within the next five years.
At the Urban League’s annual luncheon held on Friday, Dec. 1st,, the new President and CEO, Dr. Kish Cumi Price, stated that she wants to the organization to raise $1.1 billion dollars to support Black businesses, education, and housing.
The luncheon also highlighted the successes that the Urban League has had in 2022, helping 326 people receive expungement, and placing 304 people find employment.
When speaking about those who have received expungement, she said, “Some people can not even get open the door because their past is forever haunting them. They can’t even see a future for themselves because their past stays with them.”
When speaking with reporters, Dr. Price also spoke about the recent hiring of Dr. Kim Schatzel as the President of the University of Louisville, she said she wants to see a higher retention of Black students.
Dr. Price said, “The persistence rates are abysmal here in Kentucky and definitely in Louisville. And so we want to make sure that the same charge is there for this new president.”
The luncheon also featured MELANnaire Marketplace vendors, along with a panel with several Black female leaders.
