National Urban League Honors the Passing of Civil Rights Icon Alcee Hastings

NEW YORK (April 6, 2021) -- National Urban League President Marc H. Morial issued the following statement in response to the death of U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings:

“We’re saddened by the loss of civil rights icon and Congressman Alcee Hastings. His legacy as a leader in the vanguard of Black-elected leadership in Florida and service to our country will be as missed. It was an honor to have him as a friend and supporter of the National Urban League. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and the many Americans for whom his advocacy created greater opportunity.”
