Greater Milwaukee Urban League Celebrates Equity & Inclusion with Luncheon

MILWAUKEE (Feb. 26, 2024) - The Greater Milwaukee Urban League (Milwaukee, WI) recently celebrated individuals dedicated to promoting equity and inclusion during its annual "Equal Opportunity Day" luncheon at Milwaukee's Pfister Hotel on Monday, February 19th.

 The event, emceed by FOX6's Aaron Maybin, featured a panel discussion highlighting 2023 milestones with prominent figures such as Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, and attorney John Daniels, Jr. The luncheon served as a platform to recognize the contributions of various individuals committed to advancing equality in the community.

Urban League officials emphasized the importance of acknowledging a diverse array of individuals who have shown a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion. Among those honored was attorney John Daniels, Jr., who received the prestigious Whitney Young Jr. Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Urban League. This award pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Whitney Young Jr., the longtime national president of the Urban League, and recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the organization's mission.

In addition to honoring exemplary individuals, the Urban League launched a special program following the luncheon aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs in bringing their products to retail shelves.
