Columbus Urban League Partners with Local Business for Workforce Diversity

COLUMBUS (Nov. 28, 2022) – Work in the trade industry oftentimes is quite lucrative and fulfilling for employees.  

Gaining access to these trade positions can prove to be quite difficult, however, and this is something Columbus Urban League (Columbus, OH) has focused on, determined to bring more diversity into the workforce.

It is an aim that has acquired interest in local Ohio businesses. A new program has been launched that would attempt to bring both employee and employer together. The Diversity Pipeline Program, who’s focus is to take businesses across the Ohio region to new heights and break the barriers that may hold employees back.

The Superior Group is one of these businesses, and it has sought to train and employ women and minorities to positions within their company that have are involved in the Urban League’s Diversity Pipeline Program.

Senior Vice President of Superior Group, Jordan Leopold, said, “There’s a tremendous need for skilled construction skilled trades talent here in Central Ohio. The construction industry needs more diversity and inclusivity as a whole.”

“It’s important because it actually gives an opportunity for people in our community not to just have a job, but actually be able to start a career,” said the Urban League’s Charles Hill.

According to the Superior Group, the company will fund the program for the next two years, where it hopes to employ more than one hundred new employees.
