National Urban League Affiliates Launch Coast-to-Coast GOTV Surge as National Voter Registration Day Kicks Off the Sprint to the Midterms

NEW YORK (September 14, 2026) — With National Voter Registration Day arriving September 15 and the 2026 midterms bearing down, the National Urban League's Reclaim Your Vote (RYV) campaign is mobilizing its affiliate network in a coordinated, community-by-community push to register and mobilize voters.

From now through Election Day, Urban League affiliates nationwide are running phone and text banks, door-to-door canvassing, poll worker recruitment, and Volunteer Deputy Registrar trainings, all under the Reclaim Your Vote banner, a nonpartisan campaign to protect the ballot is to make sure every eligible voter is registered, informed, and ready to cast it.

The Greater Atlanta Urban League has built a run of activations designed to meet Black voters in barber chairs, at game nights, on campus, and at citywide rallies ahead of the state's voter registration deadline. The lineup includes a barbershop-based voter education activation at the Atlanta Barber Institute, a game night at Morris Brown College built to make registration feel fun and accessible to Atlanta University Center students, a concert-style registration event at Clark Atlanta University featuring local artists, and a GOTV rally at the King Center, steps from the John Lewis Wall the day before registration closes.

"Voters deserve an opportunity to have their voices heard, and we believe that starts with education and engagement," said Jerika L. Richardson, Senior Vice President for Equitable Justice & Strategic Initiatives at the National Urban League. "Reclaim Your Vote supports our affiliates with messaging guidance as they speak to voters on the ground, but their tactics and activations are tailored to the culture of their cities and the people that they serve."

What's Next:

  • Sept. 15 - National Voter Registration Day: Urban League affiliates nationwide launch coordinated registration drives, phone and text banking, and community outreach.

  • Sept. 24 (Atlanta) - "Cuts, Conversations, and Community with Black Men Speak": Greater Atlanta Urban League GOTV barbershop activation at the Atlanta Barber Institute with Representatives Derek Jackson and Eric Bell, equipping barbers to share voter registration resources directly with clients.

  • Sept. 27 (Atlanta) - "Deal Me In": GOTV game night at Morris Brown College, hosted with Georgia Act and open to the broader Atlanta University Center student population, featuring local representatives, organizers, and influencers, plus shuttle service to a nearby polling location.

  • Oct. 4 (Atlanta) - Votecella: Voter registration event with Representative Eric Bell and Clark Atlanta University's CAU Votes, featuring local artists, timed ahead of Georgia's voter registration deadline.

  • GOTV Rally at the King Center (Atlanta, in planning): A rally the day before voter registration closes, organized by Representative Derek Jackson with partners including Charlemagne tha God, Power 97, and iHeartRadio, staged near the John Lewis Wall; the Greater Atlanta Urban League is in early conversations on co-branding.
