Urban League of Southwestern Ohio Celebrates First “Black Women in Tech” Cohort

CINCINNATTI (March 11, 2024) - The Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio (Cincinnati OH), in collaboration with Brighton Center, the Community Action Agency, and the Gaskins Foundation, is celebrating the graduation of the first cohort of Black Women in Tech program participants.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to increase the representation of women of color in the tech industry by providing both entry-level technology skills and advanced training. Supported by key partners like JPMorgan Chase, Google, and the Workforce Innovation Center of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, the program offers a unique opportunity for women to enter or advance in the tech sector.

The program, which offers Google Career Certificates in areas like IT support, UX design, data analytics, project management, cybersecurity, and digital marketing and e-commerce, spans three months with classes meeting 16 hours a week. Participants also benefit from wraparound services such as childcare, mentoring, case management, and financial education workshops to ensure their success. Ebony Young, Vice President of Impact for the Urban League, highlighted the hard work of the graduates and expresses the organization's joy in playing a role in their success.
