“The Urban League Movement joins Sterling Tucker’s family and friends and the Washington, D.C. community in mourning a tireless advocate for racial justice and dedicated public servant.  Mr. Tucker led the Washington, D.C., Urban League affiliate from 1956 to 1974, through the height of the 20th Century Civil Rights Movement and served as a mentor and role model for a generation of leaders.  Our movement was made stronger by his influence and guiding hand and his legacy lives on through our work.”
