National Civil Rights and Reproductive Rights Leaders to Meet With VP Harris on Reproductive Rights

NATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS, REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS LEADERS TO MEET WITH VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS TO DISCUSS PROTECTING REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS AHEAD OF MIDTERM ELECTIONS 

WASHINGTON, DC (September 11, 2022) – The nation’s top civil rights and reproductive health, rights and justice leaders will meet with Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday, September 12, to discuss the importance of protecting reproductive rights and freedoms.

This roundtable stems from a letter sent from the coalition to President Biden in July urging his administration to prioritize the protection of women’s health and reproductive rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, as well as using all resources available to protect voters and election workers during this upcoming election season.

Scheduled to attend are the leaders of the National Urban League, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Center for Reproductive Rights, In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Legal Defense Fund (LDF), NAACP, National Action Network, National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, Black Women’s Roundtable, National Council for Negro Women, Inc., National Partnership for Women & Families, National Women’s Law Center, NARAL-Pro Choice America, Power Rising, SisterSong, Urban League Young Professionals, and URGE: Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity.

The leaders and Vice President Harris will hold a media briefing at 5 p.m. prior to the start of the roundtable in the Vice President’s Ceremonial office. The roundtable will take place immediately following as a closed meeting.
