Invitation to Participate in Information Session with American Hospital Association
The American Hospital Association (AHA) is partnering with the National Urban League to match Urban League affiliate CEOs and Young Professional leaders with AHA member CEOs and governance leaders. The goal is to place these leaders on AHA member governance boards.
Our organizations have partnered in the past to connect CEOs to hospital board but after receiving significant feedback from NUL about the execution and rollout of previous interims of the program, we are pleased to announce the newly revampedTrustee Match Program. National Urban League and American Hospital Association will be hosting TWO informational sessions. During the sessions we will provide leaders with updates about the changes made to the program and how interested Affiliate CEOs and Young Professional leaders can potentially join a hospital board.
THE IMPACT
According to AHA’s 2019 Governance Survey Report, survey respondents reported that African Americans represented 6% of voting board members. By increasing diversity and inclusion on governance boards, AHA’s hospital and health system members can accelerate advancements in addressing health equity for patients and communities.
Health care trustees who understand the root causes, issues, needs and cultures of patients and communities can provide deeper insights that result in better decision-making about how to serve local communities. They also may have deep connections with other community leaders who can help hospitals and health systems address social determinants of health and help to achieve community health goals. Additionally, diverse and inclusive health care boards report richer discussions with boarder perspectives that help their organizations avoid missteps in implementing new programs and services for patient populations.
