“Social determinants of health” are the fundamental environmental conditions that determine life outcomes.  For African Americans and other communities of color, determinants such as limited access to quality health care and education, economic instability, and neighborhood neglect result in disproportionate health consequences such as a lesser quality and shorter life expectancy . This session dives into the impact of key social factors on our communities and how they perpetuate health inequities. Health experts and community activists will debate strategies to address institutional causes and improve health outcomes for communities of color.
