Tatyana Gardner
Director of Health Initiatives, Springfield Urban League Inc.
Tatyana Gardner, DrPH(c), MPH, CHES currently serves as the Director of Health Initiatives at the Springfield Urban League, working to drive the success of public health initiatives, and well-being at all levels of the organization and within the Springfield community. Before SUL, she was a COVID-19 data analyst for the Georgia Department of Public Health. where she analyzed COVID data for higher education sports teams and developed mitigation initiatives to ensure the safety of student-athletes, coaching staff, and faculty. As Director of Health Initiatives, at SUL, she has identified and spearheaded local and statewide health initiatives to positively impact high-risk, marginalized communities of color. Over time, Tatyana has planned, organized, and participated in developing, administering, and evaluating health education and promotion programs, including the Wellness on Wheels program, which has served approximately 5,000 minority individuals during her tenure. Tatyana is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Public Health with a concentration in Social Epidemiology, where her dissertation focuses on qualitative interviews with black women on their breastfeeding experiences and intentions. Her education and professional experiences have shown how social determinants of health affect minority communities and exacerbate negative health outcomes within these communities. Through her work, she strives to become effective in cross-cultural situations and gain experience with at-risk populations.
