When COVID-19 Threatened An Elderly Man With Foreclosure, The Urban League of Palm Beach County Stepped In

Dave Price, 70 years old, fell behind on his home mortgage loan with Wells Fargo in March of 2020 due to COVID-19. He was placed on forbearance that was set to expire on November 30th of that same year. He contacted the Palm Beach County Department of Housing and Economic Sustainability to obtain assistance under the CARES Act.

Prior to receiving funds, he underwent mortgage default counseling as was required by the county CARES Act mortgage assistance program. Then in late October, Mr. Price was approved for $7,941.24 in grant funds to pay delinquent mortgage payments (PITI), property taxes, homeowners’ insurance, and other fees.

Result

Mr. Price was able to keep his property and remain in his home.
