Jacksonville Urban League Assists Woman in Reducing Her Mortgage

When the Taylor family needed assistance saving their home from foreclosure, the Jacksonville Urban League stepped in with a plan that cut their mortgage by $50 a month.

The Taylors contact the Jacksonville affiliate after a back injury prevented Mrs. Taylor from working caused the family to fall four months behind on their mortgage. The family, with two school-aged children, was involved in a two year court battle to get disability when a counselor from the affiliate stepped in to help with win her case and find a solution for her mortgage.

She won her battle and was awarded social security with back pay, and the outcome of the case was presented to her mortgage servicer who then reduced her payment.
