NEWPORT NEWS – The Urban League of Hampton Roads (Norfolk, VA) has partnered with the Riverside Health System to fight racial disparities in healthcare.

They also hope to connect people with assistance and treatment to prevent serious health issues.

At the announcement of the partnership on Wednesday, April 6th, Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources John Littel commented that the state has long recognized that health is the result of a multitude of factors, not just one. Education, housing, and other factors play a part.

MADISON – The Urban League of Greater Madison (Madison, WI) has broken ground on its new project Friday, April 8th.

The project is The Black Business Hub, which is a Black-led project that will assist disadvantaged businesses and entrepreneurs by providing coaching, mentoring, loans, and other services.

At a cost of $25.5 million, this is the Urban League’s largest project, with over $18 million already raised.

Nearly 80,000 square feet, the Hub will also have space for offices and retail stores, that will offer at below market prices to support and encourage emerging businesses.
