MILWAUKEE (Feb. 26, 2024) - The Greater Milwaukee Urban League (Milwaukee, WI) recently celebrated individuals dedicated to promoting equity and inclusion during its annual "Equal Opportunity Day" luncheon at Milwaukee's Pfister Hotel on Monday, February 19th.

 The event, emceed by FOX6's Aaron Maybin, featured a panel discussion highlighting 2023 milestones with prominent figures such as Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, and attorney John Daniels, Jr. The luncheon served as a platform to recognize the contributions of various individuals committed to advancing equality in the community.

FORT WAYNE (Feb. 26, 2024) - The Fort Wayne Urban League (Fort Wayne, IN) recently formed a partnership with "The Race Card Project.”

The initiative, created by journalist Michele Norris in 2010, allows people to share their stories about race in six words.

Aisha Arrington, President & CEO of the Urban League, highlighted the participation of over 100 community members who shared their six-word race or identity stories.

PITTSBURGH (Feb. 26, 2024) - The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh’s (Pittsburgh, PA) 28th annual Ronald H. Brown Leadership Awards dinner was a resounding success.

The event, held at the Rivers Casino on Friday, Feb. 16th, had more than 400 guests contributing to raising over $400,000 for the organization's programs and services. Chaired by Blayre Holmes Davis, the second lady of Pennsylvania, and Bryan Iams, the event featured a cocktail reception and a silent auction, followed by heartfelt gratitude expressed by the chairs for the attendees' support.

BUFFALO (Feb. 26, 2024) - The Buffalo Urban League (Buffalo, NY) is sowing seeds of hope and resilience in a community plagued by trauma and neglect, following a racist shooting incident two years ago.

After setting up the Buffalo Resiliency Center less than a quarter mile away from the scene of the shooting, the Urban League further aims to provide for the community.

Thomas Beauford Jr., the President and CEO of the Urban League, emphasizes their mission to empower African Americans and underserved communities, striving for social parity, economic self-reliance, and civil rights.
