Transforming Passion into Profession

Acquindas always had a natural passion for working on automobiles. After graduating high school, he enrolled in college but quickly realized that a traditional academic pathway was not aligned with his long-term goals. Once he started a family, he made a decisive commitment: he needed more than a job, he needed a profession. That decision led him to enroll in the Urban League of Louisiana’s Urban Energy Jobs Program where he joined their pre-apprenticeship program. After completing the training, Acquindas selected the Automobile Apprenticeship Program pathway, a structured workforce development initiative designed to create direct entry into high demand automotive careers.

When it was time for him to find a position, multiple dealerships expressed interest in hiring him, many extending employment offers before his internship concluded. He accepted a position with Honda of Harvey where he was promoted after just two weeks. Today, Acquindas remains gainfully employed at Honda of Harvey and is regarded as a model employee. Through the Urban League of Louisiana’s Urban Energy Jobs Program and Automobile Apprenticeship Program, he transformed passion into profession and secured financial stability for his family.
