
Kendrick Kitchens
Educational Specialist, Houston Area Urban League
Kendrick is a graduate of Jackson State University where he majored in Education and was a three-sport student athlete (football, baseball & track). After graduation, Kendrick went to play professional football with the San Diego Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Before joining the Houston Area, Urban League Kendrick coached college football for Division 1 FCS Houston Baptist University for 8 years as the Wide Receiver Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Before joining the coaching world, Kendrick was a 5th Grade teacher and then a Reading Specialist for the Klein School District in Houston Texas.
After his football career Kendrick moved to Houston to become a teacher. Working for HISD Kendrick taught 5th and 2nd grade before relocating to Klein ISD to become a reading specialist and supervise after school mentoring programs.
In 2012 Kendrick started his coaching career at WIllowridge high school, the two years at Blinn College and the last seven at Houston Baptist University. After leaving HBU Kendrick is now an Education Specialist with the Houston Area Urban League spear heading the Project Ready Mentor program.
