Dr. Craig Windford

Director of IT & STEM Programs, Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh

Winford Craig, Ph.D., was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is the proud parent of four adult children with successful careers. He has taught entrepreneurship and network infrastructure at both a local university and community college. Winford also served as Commissioner and Board Chair of the Human Relations Commission, which functioned as an enforcement arm of the EEOC and HUD.

In the late 1990s, Winford purchased a ComputerLand franchise, specializing in network infrastructure and server management. His company received national recognition from the U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C., as one of the top small businesses in the country. Notable clients included the United States Nuclear Submarine Base at Puget Sound, PNC Bank (conversion of 498 branches), Mellon Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and Westinghouse Savannah River.

In the early 2000s, Winford transitioned from business ownership to consulting and accepted a position with the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh to advance technology initiatives and oversee education. Under the leadership of Ms. Esther L. Bush, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, Winford created the Tech Academy as part of the Urban Tech Jobs Program (NUL). What began with 25–50 students annually has now expanded to more than 400 participants each year. Winford is proud to serve the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh and its constituents.
