Damali Peterman

Author, Lawyer, and Educator

Damali Peterman brings over twenty years of experience as a mediator, conflict resolution trainer, entrepreneur, and corporate transactional lawyer in private and in-house practice. Damali is highly regarded for her use of innovative and engaging techniques designed to assist companies, universities, nonprofits, government agencies and individuals prevent, manage, and resolve conflict.

Before starting her own two award-winning companies, Damali was a private equity and mergers and acquisitions lawyer at Weil, Gotshal and Manges and Assistant General Counsel at Deloitte. She is a highly sought-after speaker, trainer, and conflict resolution expert who has been likened to Olivia Pope aka Judy A. Smith on many occasions.

She is a graduate of Spelman College and Howard University School of Law, where she has taught a course on facilitated negotiations for the past 4 years. Damali also has a Masters Degree in International Studies and was an exchange student in Mexico, Denmark, Japan and The Netherlands.

Damali’s book, Negotiating While Black: Be Who You Are to Get What You Want was acquired at auction in the US by Penguin Random House and in the UK by Bonnier Books. Her book has distribution in 75 countries. It was just published on June 4th and already:
